Enhanced Messaging

Text messages reach your clients wherever they are, and are proven to reduce no shows. Now send them from your own business line to ensure deliverability, and build trust.

Available on our Professional and Team plan, our Enhanced Messaging service is provided by Capacity SMS. Capacity SMS provisions dedicated phone lines and sends millions of text messages on behalf of businesses of all sizes every month.

How does Enhanced Messaging work?  

Enhanced Messaging allows you to send SMS confirmations, reminders, and follow-up messages to your clients from your own dedicated business line. Customers will be reassured the message is coming from you, and more confident interacting with it. 

Create fully customized and personalized text messages that include all the details you need about each booking.    

How to activate Enhanced Messaging

To activate Enhanced Messaging, head to your Account -> Plan & Billing -> [Messaging], or click here. When you select Apply for Enhanced Messaging, you'll be taken to a form to fill out your business details and select your plan. 

Here is some of the information you will be asked to provide:

  1. Legally Registered Business Name
  2. Company Address 
  3. Business EIN (Employer Identification Number)
  4. Business type
  5. Links to your company's Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions 
  6. An example of a text message you will be sending (this will be your confirmation or reminder message from the Notifications tab of your settings)

You'll be able to decide if you want to use an existing business telephone line, or if you'd like us to provision a new dedicated SMS line. If you want to use your existing line, you'll be able to enter it into the form. If you select a new line, you'll be able to choose between a national toll-free number, or a 10-Digit Long Code, which is a number with a local area code like (212) 555-1234.

After filling in the form, you'll be directed to payment. 

Capacity SMS handles all the work needed to provision and ensure compliance for your phone line. Please note, once we receive your brand information, it can take up to 2 weeks to register your number. Check your account to get updates on the status.

Costs for Enhanced Messaging

The costs for Enhanced Messaging are as follows: 

  • $59 one-off fee for provisioning & compliance (paid at the time of application)
  • Subscription including first dedicated line. 

You can choose from two subscriptions to start messaging from your dedicated line: send up to 500 messages per month for $17/month, or send up to 1,000 messages per month for $27/month. These subscriptions include the message credits and the line rental fees for your dedicated line. 

Messages expire at the end of the month and do not rollover. All subscriptions last for one year.

If you go over the number of messages in your packages, we will automatically top up with a new bundle so you don't run out. You can always move to a bigger bundle plan if this happens regularly.   If you need more than 1,000 messages per month, let us know and we can set it up for you.

Getting Booker Permission 

When you activate a dedicated phone line for Enhanced SMS, we will automatically add an opt-in question onto your booking form so your clients can give their permission to receive SMS notifications from your business. This is a regulatory requirement for provisioning a dedicated line.  

If your customer doesn't check the box to opt in to SMS messaging, we won't be able to deliver the notification. 

We also strongly recommend that your privacy policy is accessible from your company website. This is a critical part of the compliance process.

Customizing your messages

Navigate to your Notification Settings on a booking page to set up or modify your booking-related emails and SMS reminders.

  • After a new booking is confirmed.

  • If the booking is rescheduled.

  • If the booking is canceled.

  • Reminders before the booking takes place.

  • Follow-ups after a booking.

  • If the booking is marked as a no-show.


Things to know

  • When you activate a dedicated phone line for Enhanced SMS, we will automatically add an opt-in question onto your booking form. This is a regulatory requirement for provisioning a dedicated line.  If your customer doesn't check the box to opt in to SMS messaging, we won't be able to deliver the notification. 
  • Due to different compliance regulations in different countries, Enhanced SMS will initially only be available to organizations based in the US and Canada. If you are outside of North America and would like to use Enhanced Messaging, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
  • We cannot guarantee delivery for North American businesses sending to international recipients. This is due to some countries having strict limitations on business-related SMS traffic from outside countries. If you experience this issue, get in touch and we will be happy to discuss the options. 
  • A dedicated line cannot be branded with your company name, but all messages will come from the same number. If your clients add the number to their contacts, they will see the message comes from you every time. 
  • If someone replies to your message on the dedicated line, YCBM will turn that reply into an email and deliver it to your account email address.
