Set your meeting duration

When you set up a booking page, YouCanBook.me allows you to set a variety of meeting durations, depending on your need. The duration of meetings is determined in your booking page settings under Times & Availability Duration & Display. 

This feature is available on all plans.

Select your Start time of each booking

The Start time of each booking is the first essential step in setting up your booking duration as it will affect which available times are displayed on your booking page. 

The Start time of each booking you select will take your set working hours and split it into even increments of time. The minimum increment display is 10 minutes, and the maximum display is 24 hours. For more flexibility on start times, select a smaller Start time of each bookin.

Meeting duration

Meeting duration will offer the same length meetings to all your clients. The duration setting will be any multiple of your Start time of each booking you've just set. Select a smaller Start time of each booking increment to offer more flexibility in possible start times for meetings on your booking page. 

Examples
  • For a 45 minute meeting, you can set your Start time of each booking to 15, or 45 minutes, and your booking duration to 45 minutes. 
  • For 1 hour 15 minute meeting, you can set your Start time of each booking to 15 minutes, and your booking duration to 1 hour 15 minutes. 
  • For a 1.5 hour meeting, you can your Start time of each booking to 30, 45 or 90 minutes, and your booking duration to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Allow booker to choose duration

You can allow your bookers to choose how much time they need with you from a preset list of durations. You can set a different array of durations for the booker to choose from. The duration setting will be any multiple of your Start time of each booking you've just set. Select a smaller Start time of each booking increment to offer more flexibility in possible start times for meetings on your booking page. 

The duration options offered to your booker will also depend on the start time they select. If you offer durations options up to 4 hours, but the booker selects the last hour of your work day, they won't be able to select a duration longer than your working hours. 

When your booker visits your booking page, they will select the desired start time of their appointment. 

Allowing your booker to choose a duration will add a drop-down option on your booking page. This is what your booker will use to select how long the appointment will be. 

Appointment Types

Appointment types allow you to set fixed length appointments for various services or types of appointments you offer. 

You can set different durations for your appointment types based on the Start time of each booking you set under Availability rules screen.

Once you've set your Start time of each booking, navigate to Additional Options > Appointment types, and toggle this feature On. 

Click the pencil to edit the existing "My service" or click Create new appointment type. More on setting up Appointment Types here.

💡 How do I edit the "Choose an appointment type" text?

When using Appointment Types on your booking page, the Intro for appointment type selection will be the first thing your clients sees, before the booking page instructions you've set on the General settings page. 

Adjusting Booking Duration

You may have started a booking page with 30 minute bookings and later decide that you need more time, or more flexibility. You can adjust the duration of your meetings at any time. 

Adjust your booking duration settings on your booking page does not affect any bookings you have already received - it will only apply to bookings made after the changes are made. Change your booking duration may increase or decrease your availability to take bookings based on events already in your calendar. 

Adjusting your grid display will also affect the booking length Appointment Types you've setup, so be sure to edit your appointments after you've made any grid display adjustments.
